How we work

Transparency on data, outreach and tools.

We believe: when a mid-market business owner receives a cold email from us, they have a right to know how that email came about, which data we process, which tools we use, and how they can object. This page answers all of that, in full.

Cold outreach: why, how, where from

We continuously analyse the mobile performance of small- and mid-sized business websites across German-speaking Europe. When a finding shows a clearly improvable mobile presence, we contact the owner listed in the imprint by email with a personal, hand-written message — never a mass-merge. Maximum three emails per recipient over ten days. A single reply removes the recipient from all our lists immediately.

Data sources and processing

Data sources
Only publicly crawlable content: company name, domain, contact address listed in the imprint/footer, measured performance values for the home page. No purchased data, no leaked databases, no scraper marketplaces.
Legal basis
Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR — legitimate interest in subject-relevant B2B information. We are aware that the German UWG § 7 sets a restrictive bar for cold email. We mitigate risk by (a) very small daily volume per sender, (b) hand-written individual messages, (c) one-click opt-out, (d) immediate list removal on reply.
Storage
Finding data and contact retained for 90 days after creation, then auto-deleted. On objection: removal within 5 business days. No sharing with third parties, no resale, no ad-pool inclusion.
Opt-out
A short message to datenschutz@zer0one.codes or a reply to one of our emails is enough. We confirm receipt and removal within 5 business days.

Tool domains for sending and audits

For reputation and hygiene reasons, we do not send cold emails directly from zer0one.codes. Instead, we use standalone tool domains. These belong to ZER0ONE and are bound to the same individual technically and legally:

Email infrastructure and authentication

All sending domains are fully DKIM, SPF and DMARC authenticated. DMARC policy is set to p=quarantine, reports go to michael@zer0one.codes. We operate no open relay, no unchecked subdomains, no third-party senders without explicit SPF inclusion.

Responsible contact

Data protection and any outreach question: datenschutz@zer0one.codes or kontakt@zer0one.codes.
